Egypt signed the Paris Agreement in 2016, the Zero Routine Flaring Initiative in 2017, and the Global Methane Pledge in 2022. Egypt hosted COP27 in 2022, launching several initiatives to make progress. The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, state entities, and the oil and gas sector are working together to reduce emissions from the sector to help Egypt meet its climate targets
