The American Petroleum Institute (API) reported that it is working on a proposal to adopt a carbon tax of US$35 to US$50 per ton of CO2-equivalent (CO2e) in the US. Although the details of the API’s proposal are still unclear, we assessed the potential impact of this tax (inflation-adjusted) on upstream deepwater US Gulf of Mexico producers.
