After Hess was announced the winner by an international arbitration tribunal in the dispute with ExxonMobil and CNOOC over pre-emption rights regarding the Stabroek project in Guyana, Chevron moved immediately to close its acquisition of the US independent. The deal was originally expected to close in H1 2024, but has taken almost two years since it was first announced due to the legal complications.
