For once, the hype and rumours seem to have substance. Shell’s closely watched Graff-1 well appears to have delivered the goods. There was initial skepticism but the decision to appraise so quickly has understandably generated huge excitement – a company like Shell wouldn’t do that unless it had confidence in the find’s potential.
