On 12 December 2024, it was confirmed that Kosmos Energy is in preliminary talks to take over Tullow Oil in a potential all-share transaction. Kosmos has until 9 January to announce whether or not it will make a firm offer. Just a week prior to the announcement, Tullow’s CEO announced his intention to resign in 2025 to “to pursue other business, academic and family interests”.
