In April 2024, The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act, defined new standards to achieve a 90% reduction in emissions from existing coal-fired steam generating units and new natural gas turbines. This rule recommends the implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology for over 200 coal plants nationwide.
