The African focused Independents continue to dominate M&A in the region. These companies now account for US$5 billion of acquisition spend in the region. Acquisition cost per barrel in 2021 was US$5-6/bbl (2P). A number of the independents are still in acquisition mode, but will the oil price rally push up valuations?
