Q2 2026 – International M&A Rebounds as Asia Pacific and Europe Drive Activity

Global M&A rebounded sharply in Q2 2026, with an estimated US$26.9 billion of spend across 43 transactions reversing the Q1 slump and defying expectations that geopolitical risk would dampen activity. Shell’s US$16.4 billion ARC Resources acquisition led the quarter, while a doubling of international (“Rest of World”) spend and firm oil prices point to continued momentum into Q3.
