The transaction reshapes basin leadership, aligns with Galp’s strategy of prioritising non-operated deepwater positions, and reduces its near-term capital exposure to a complex ultra-deepwater development.

For TotalEnergies, consolidating operatorship of both Mopane and Venus strengthens its basin-wide influence over development concepts, shared infrastructure and fiscal terms. Both partners also gain fresh exploration running room through PEL 83 and PEL 91, with a planned three-well campaign aimed at de-risking resources ahead of potential final investment decisions.
