Brazilians went to the polls on Sunday, 4 October 2026, for the first round of the country’s presidential election. With no candidate securing more than 50% of valid votes, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Lula) and right-wing candidate Flavio Bolsonaro, the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, will meet in a runoff on 25 October 2026.
