The Nigerian government recently launched an initiative to increase the country’s oil production by a million barrels per day in the next 12 to 24 months. The campaign has been tagged ‘Project 1 MMBOPD’ and is been spearheaded by the country’s upstream regulator – the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Commission (NUPRC). But given the near-term challenges and evolving corporate landscape, we believe hitting the target in the timeframe will be a tall order.
